I am constantly amazed at how people call this a "funny" series. OCD (Obsessesive Compulse Disorder) is not wacky or funny. Shalhoub character Monk is not "eccentric," he is ill, mentally ill! For those unfortunate enough to suffer from OCD life is a constant challenge. It may be funny to watch Shalhoub fuss with some cushions or touch a lamp, but when you wash your hands forty times in a row until they actually bleed from scrubbing them too hard, it's a lot less funny! As for the "detecting" in the show, it's the same time-worn and tired formula: Monk figures out how the crime is done, accuses the killer without any real proof and of course the killer confesses everything. In only a few episodes in this season is there evidence enough for a real jury to sentence anyone.
